A unique first time event is to be held on the Fleurieu at the Victor Harbor Golf Course on April 18, 2021.

During the COVID-19 outbreak the club has been brainstorming ideas to inject life back into the golfing community and have risen with a fantastic and exciting new initiative.

Victor Harbor Golf Club (VHGC) member and organiser Linda Hodgson said the tournament would be called 'Big Name Legends' (BNL).

"The tournament will invite participants who will be keen to meet and play with legends in a team event 'four ball best ball stableford'. The legends will come from major sports, PGA members, Olympic champions and musicians," Linda said.

"This will offer a fabulous opportunity for golfers, family and visitors to 'Revive, Restore and Rejuvenate' our well being, meet friends and experience the natural wonders of the Victor Harbor Golf Course.

"Positive lifestyle is a valued component and the BNL tournament brings out our social well being with fun and enjoyment."

The VHGC extends an invitation to all communities to take part, as the event will be held in collaboration with other golf facilities in South Australia.

The BNL will not be just a day out to play in a team event with legends, but also there will be plenty of prizes, cafe dining at the golf club, silent auctions, raffles and fine wines.

Names of those who will participate will be released during 2020 and in the build up to the 2021 event, but in the meantime the Victor Harbor Golf Club will continue to pursue its pathway out of COVID-19 with competitions going into full swing.

The Victor Harbor Golf Course is well known for its picturesque first tee, but members suggest it is much more than that.

"Playing golf here is therapeutic, as you encounter nature's wildlife, varieties of birds, scurrying of sure footed animals, rustling of leaves from the magnificent trees, all while you are play golf," Linda said.
