If you're on the Murray River any time during March long weekend, you might witness many ski boats and skiers heading from Murray Bridge to Renmark.

It's all in the name of raising and promoting awareness around mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention, as well as providing grants for eligible programs which align with their mission.

Known as Ski For Life, the event will celebrate eight years this March and organisers are calling on your registrations.

The unique annual event on the River Murray attracts teams of skiers who participate in a three-day 450km water ski relay from Murray Bridge to Renmark and registrations are open now.

The event not only has an extended reach to communities along the way, but creates opportunity for conversations for participants, welcomes involvement of major event partners and raises much need funds.

Founding members Sue Watt and Jane-Marie Kellock said everyone came together with the same goal in mind for the event.

"Everyone shares a common goal - a commitment to bringing an awareness amongst themselves and to rural communities of the importance of wellbeing, mental health and the prevention of suicide," they both said.

The vibrant and energetic charity organisation was recognised for its work with a nomination at the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation Innovation in Mental Health, Social and Emotional Wellbeing Awards in November 2019.

As a not for profit organisation, money raised is directed to selected programs and available through a Grant Funding process for projects which are aligned with the Ski for Life Mission - Promoting Mental Health, Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention - funding applications for up to $5,000 are open now.
