As we start 2020 with new opportunities, renewed vigour and we hope the humility and wisdom of lessons learnt in 2019 RDA Yorke and Mid North would like to reflect on creating and retaining opportunities for young people to live and thrive in our community.

We have had the absolute pleasure of delivering to 16 fantastic participants an innovative heavy industry and civil skills training program, which gives the opportunity to undertake a 'taster' in Engineering, Electrical/ Renewables, Construction, Civil and Mining.

As we attended the graduation of the 4 th December with the participants with the friends and family I just wanted to reflect on how far everyone had come in 20 weeks and congratulate them on them all.

We celebrate the fact that 12 have already commenced work and we are confident with the skills and attitude of the remaining participants, they will also be rewarded with positions in 2020.

The incredible partnership with Tafe SA and the Commonwealth Government has accommodated the pre-vocational course, drawing job seekers from around our region-drawing participants from Burra, through the Yorke Peninsula across to Booleroo Centre.

RDA Yorke and Mid North thanks each of the seven dedicated industry partners who represent the major local employers in the sectors including OZ Minerals, Nyrstar, SJ Cheeseman, Gadaleta Steel Fabrication, McMahon Services, Total Electrical Construction, Alsanto and TAFE SA, who have assisted the design and application process for this program. In addition these businesses have either provided work experience and/ or employment and without their contribution it would not be possible- Your Town, Sureway, Collins Crane Hire, United Country SA, Johnsons Home Improvement, Port Pirie Regional Council, LMG Performance Auto, Metal as Anything, The Picture Framer, District Council of Mount Remarkable, Hallett Concreting, Sundrop Farms and Mini Pave. Special thanks to Lynn Wallace and Spanner Combe from the RDA Yorke and Mid North staff who guided all of our participants through the rigours of a truly work ready program.

We are currently taking EoI for those interested in our second intake for the 20 week program commencing in 2020. Interested participants should contact Lynn Wallace on 0429 458 453 or download the EoI form from yorkeandmidnorth.com.au.
