After rebounding strongly this season, BMW aims to reach the Northern Areas Football Association grand final next year.

The Lions burst back into contention this year after several seasons in the wilderness, reaching the preliminary final under first-year coach Alek Kangur.

Kangur, who plays on the ball, was re-appointed mid-season as leader for 2020.

The former North Adelaide SANFL player lives in Adelaide with his partner Ellie, formerly of Wilmington.

Kangur, whose name derives from his Estonian father, answers to "Kang" on the field, not to be confused with his brother Lukas who also is a midfielder. The coach travels to the Mid North on match days, but has bench coach Jordan Arthur to help him."There is a bus for the Adelaide guys to come up most weekends. It makes it pretty easy," he said.

"There are 10 to 12 guys working or at university in Adelaide. It is not as bad as people might think." He is excited about the prospects for his team, admitting they will be better for this season's finals experience.
