Clare Valley's quaint village of Mintaro will celebrate 170 years this weekend.
With a rich history dating back to the 1800s, Mintaro was a middle town for the mining community of Burra, before then reaching into the slate industry.
Its history also sees the building of Martindale Hall and Kadlunga homestead.
Then there's Mintaro's slate quarry which was first opened in 1854 by Peter Brady, this was then leased in 1856 he leased it to Thompson Priest, a stonemason.
This Saturday will see a small celebration of 170 years of Mintaro, before the 175th birthday in 2024.
