CDHA United take out coveted awards
CDHA United is the playing name given to the teams entered by the Clare and District Hockey Association into the Barossa Valley Hockey Association competition and comprises of players from the Balaklava, Burra and Clare Hockey Clubs.
This year they entered three teams - an Under 16s, a 'B' Women's and a 'B' Men's.
The Under 16s competition comprised of six teams, four from the Barossa, one from Gawler and CDHA United.
In turn these six teams used a grand total of 116 different players over the course of the season.
In line with many other sports, after each game the umpires vote for the 'Best and Fairest' and this year we are pleased to announce that CDHA United player - Nick Lawrie, took out the overall title.
CDHA United also faired exceptionally well in the two senior competitions entered.
Ellen Canna took out the runner-up 'Best and Fairest' award in the 'B' Women's comp which also comprises of six teams while Luke Burge was runner-up 'Best and Fairest' in the 'B' Men's comp.
This division boasts eight teams going head-to-head and has 165 players vying for places within the sides.
Congratulations go out to these players as it is a fantastic accolade to be held in such high esteem by the umpires considering the huge level of competition they were up against.
It also reflects very heavily on how they play the sport and they are indeed role models not only for their teams but for the sport in general.
