Deliveries to Kapunda's Meals on Wheels clients on Wednesday were made extra special with Stuart MP Dan van Holst Pellekaan joining volunteers on their lunchtime run.
This is the second time the MP has joined the crusade to help celebrate National Meals on Wheels Day, August 28.
The annual event helps to recognise the work of the organisation's 40 valued Kapunda supporters who make up the 78,700 volunteers from 740 branches in Australia.
For Kapunda's Norman Lee, a knock on his front door by Mr van Holst Pellekaan holding hot food was a welcomed sight.
Mr Lee explained how Kapunda Meals on Wheels has supported him through a tough time with his wife a resident of the town's aged care homes following a major stroke in 2015.
Both gentlemen exchanged pleasantries with Mr Lee's parting words thanking the MP and volunteers for their help and how he was looking forward to stopping the "rattle in his belly".
According to Mr van Holst Pellekaan, the national day is also his opportunity at calling on more community volunteers to assist this vital care service.
On Wednesday he praised the work of all Kapunda volunteers who have been assisting the service for more than 40 years.
Mr van Holst Pellekaan was joined by Maria Ooyendyk, who has already achieved her 25 years badge of service, and new volunteer and member of the Kapunda Hospital Auxiliary Anne Richardson.
If members of the public would like to join Kapunda Meals on Wheels then branch president Megan McWaters would love to hear from you, so please phone her on 0408 441 701.
