Clare Horse and Pony Club member Sarah Scott has won her second state Junior Horse and Rider of the Year award.

Competing on her mount Tornado, Miss Scott took out the award at the Pony Club Association of South Australia State Championships held at Kadina.

She and her opponents must perform cross three disciplines - dressage test, showjump round and an individual mounted games course, combination with the best score, wins.

Miss Scott competed for Central Zone and against riders from throughout other South Australian zones.

She was just one of more than 118 horse and rider combinations which competed at the championships.

Hosted by Central Zone, competitors in dressage, showjumping and mounted games travelled from as far away as Kimba, Naracoorte, Adelaide, Clare, Adelaide Hills, and Goolwa.

Central Zone was represented by Indiana Smith (Balaklava), Sarah Scott, Phoebe Seneca, Kiera Hoyle (Clare), Shemia Daniel, Sheridan Starick-Kemp, Sue Franklin (Kadina) and Kay Johnson, Sharon Warren, Annette Hudd, Michelle Reynolds, Imogen Elsworthy, Mackenzie Weltman, Charlie Penna and Renee Smith (Northern Yorke Peninsula Pony Club).

Results from Clare, Burra and Balaklava riders:

Novice 17 years and over: Phoebe Seneca (Riverbelle) 19th. Novice under-17 competition: Sarah Scott (Tornado) 2nd, Kiera Hoyle (Goldshaft Brons Reflection) 8th. Novice teams competition: Central Zone Team 1 (Scott, Hoyle, Weltman, Penna) 2nd, Central Zone Team 2 (Smith, Starick-Kemp, Seneca, Daniel) 4th.

Preliminary dressage: Under-17 individual: Sarah Scott (Tornado) 1st, Kiera Hoyle (Goldshaft Brons Reflection) 6th, Indiana Smith (Wynara Flirt) 19th. 17 years and over: Phoebe Seneca (Fiasco) 17th, Phoebe Seneca (Riverbelle) 19th, Karen Sobey (Vanilla) from Burra Pony Club placed 13th.

Preliminary teams: Central Zone Team 1 (Scott, Penna, Hoyle, Seneca) 2nd, Central Zone Team 2 (Weltman, R Smith, I Smith, Seneca) 3rd. C grade show jumping (85cm to 1m): Under 17: Sarah Scott (Tornado) 1st.
