A total of 20 year 6 and 7 students from the Mid North District, participated in the recent annual SAPSASA state netball carnival.
Mid North teams, coached by Katie Liebelt and Belinda Dare, competed in division four and division eight. All matches were played at Priceline Stadium, the Netball SA headquarters at Mile End. Both Mid North teams played nine matches throughout the week, put in 100 per cent each game and showed great sportsmanship.
The division four team finished fourth overall, with six wins from their nine matches. The final match of the week against neighbouring district North Eastern was a great spectacle, with Mid North winning by one goal, after trailing by seven at three-quarter time.
The division eight team finished equal second overall, with seven wins and two very narrow losses. Against the undefeated Whyalla team, Mid North lead by one goal at half time, eventually going down by five goals. Against the Northern Yorke Peninsula, who were equal second, Mid North went down by one goal, in a nail biting match that could have gone either way.
The opportunity to play two matches on the indoor courts of Priceline Stadium was memorable - for most of the girls this was their first ever experience playing indoors.
A team excursion to the Beach House, followed by a team dinner on the Wednesday night topped off a fantastic week.
Congratulations to all the girls on their efforts and success throughout the week and for being such wonderful representatives of the Mid North.
