United Archers president Steve Werfel shoots at the club's new field in Blyth.

In an exciting day for United Archers, and 18 months in the making, president Steve Werfel was able to have his first shoot at the new grounds.

This was Steve's first shoot in 20 years.

In his youth Steve learnt archery at the Adelaide Archery club.

Later he started an archery club at the Hampstead Rehab spinal unit which he ran and instructed at for 10 years.

He has represented Australia at tournaments around the world in both able bodied and disabled teams.

United Archers feel lucky to have him has an instructor and mentor.

If you would like to see Steve in action or have a go yourself, United Archers shoot on the second and fourth Sundays of the month from 2pm at their field in the Blyth Oval complex.

Better yet, if you would like to learn to be an archer like Steve, United Archers is running a beginner's course over three weekends in May (12, 19 and 26).
