Morning service in Robertstown

Members of the Robertstown community gathered at the War Memorial Community Centre for a morning service on Thursday to commemorate AZNAC Day.

Mike Colbey of the Returned and Services League Robertstown Sub Branch opened the service, while Peter Pfitzner of the Eudunda-Robertstown Lutheran Church led the crowd in prayer and song.

Mr Colbey noted that they had been blessed with beautiful weather despite the morning chill.

Wreaths were laid at the base of the memorial shrine located in the courtyard of the Centre, courtesy of community members, sporting groups and organizations.

These included the Southern Saints Football Club, Eudunda-Robertstown Netball Club, Robertstown Primary School, Eudunda Area School, Robertstown Country Fire Service and the Point Pass Social Club among others.

Personal wreaths were also laid by family members in memory of those who served in previous conflicts and who have since departed.

Regional Council of Goyder councilor John Neal - elected member of the Robertstown Ward - was also present, laying wreaths on behalf of Council and the Goyder Youth Advisory Committee.

Following the service lunch was provided which included snags, cooked on the nearby barbecue by members of the RSL, and traditional salads.

Chocolate emblazoned with the Sub Branch's logo were also available for purchase, provided by Cheryl Lehman of Lehman's General Store.
