White Ribbon Ambassador Ivan Phillips lost his step-daughter, Tash, when she was murdered in Adelaide as a result of sustained domestic violence attacks.
Women in Agricultural and Business will welcome Mr Phillips as their guest speaker at a public event on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 7-9pm at the Barbara J Long Function Room adjacent to the Clare Town Hall aimed to increase local awareness of Domestic Violence and its early signs.
A Port Lincoln resident, Mr Phillips is employed by the Department for Industry and Skills as the Indigenous Industry Liaison Manager on the Far West Coast of South Australia.
He has been instrumental in assistant to develop his department’s White Ribbon Accreditation and Policy Implementation which includes up to 15 days fully paid leave, specifically for Domestic Violence survivors.
Mr Phillips was a 2018 Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Bearer, the 2016 SA White Ribbon Ambassador of the Year and has won an Impact Top 25 Award for the mst influential people n the social sector of Australia.
He is a self-confessed Iron Butt Motorcycle junky who has ridden around Australia three times and crossed the Nullarbor 13 times and is the founder of the ‘Riding Free of DV’ charity for DV sufferers on Eyre Peninsula.
Other speakers include a domestic violence survivor, Sharon Ashford from Uniting Country SA and SAPOL Family Violence Intervention Officer Snr Const Nikki Oxspring.
