Marrabel’s Gums Horse and Pony Club have successfully completed the STARCLUB Program and is the very first Recognised STARCLUB in the Central Mid North Region.

This status achievement by the club and is a stamp of excellence in club management and club development.

GHPC chairperson Renee Floyd and public officer Liz Moreton from the club were thrilled to achieve the recognised STARCLUB status and receive their official banner.

They said they would promote their achievement by using their banner at upcoming events.

The club also welcomed the news, that they are the first club in the council regions of Goyder, Wakefield and Clare and Gilbert Valley (Central Mid North) to receive this status.

Liz Moreton said they worked hard with the committee to ensure the club was operating well for the future.

The club has also combined this success with having recently achieved the Level 3 status in the Good Sports Program.

As a level three Good Sports Club, they have implemented a combined policy around alcohol management, tobacco and safe transport.

Central Mid North Region STARCLUB Field Officer Samantha Freeman presented the “Officially Recognised STARCLUB” banner to the club at a recent rally.

She congratulated them for their service excellence to the club, its members and to the broader community.

In speaking to the gathered members, Samantha commended the club on achieving this status.

“...it is clear recognition of the committee’s hard work and ongoing efforts in ensuring the club was meeting best practice standards for sporting clubs,” she said.

“It is very obvious to all that “The Gums” is a well organised, family friendly club with a clear focus on a planned and successful future.”

The club highly recommends using the STARCLUB program and said it was easy to do so.
