A who’s who of book characters made their way down Main North Road early on Wednesday morning.

Clare Primary School students celebrated book week 2018 with a parade down the town’s main retail strip, setting off from the school grounds just after 9am and heading north towards the traffic lights before making a u-turn and heading home.

Parents and observers lined each side of the street to catch a glimpse of the impressive costumes.

Standout costumes included a rainbow fish, Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr Seuss’ Cat in the Hat, Nintendo gaming characters Mario and Luigi, numerous football players and a host of fairies.

Some familiar faces from the teaching staff also got in on the festivities.

The theme of this years celebration of literature was Find Your Treasure and will run until August 24.

Book Week at Clare Primary kicked off on Tuesday with readings held in the library during the morning.
