Uniting Country SA will be at the Clare Town hall on Friday, August 10, from 11 – 2pm to raise awareness of the ways homelessness impacts country communities.
The event will display information which aims to dispel the myths and stereotypes of homelessness, showing how the problem is so easily hidden from view.
Staff will be on hand to answer questions in relation to homelessness and what Uniting Country SA can do to help those affected by it.
Alongside this information there will be hot soup and giveaways of blankets and knitwear to those in need.
Homelessness is often thought of as ‘rough sleeping’, but only seven percent of those who were homeless on census night were sleeping rough. In South Australia the number of homeless people has risen to just under 6000.
Come along, meet your local staff, and show you care about homelessness.
