Burra 1 drew with Clare 1

After a week off, players from both Burra and Clare commenced the game with energy and enthusiasm. Clare’s Izzy Price and Royce Butler put strong pressure on Burra players throughout the first half, and Talbot and Amelia made some direct and clean passes to their Clare team mates.

Clare was awarded a short corner after some great play by Angus, who passed off to Izzy Price, who executed a beautiful hit into the Clare goals. The beginning of the second half saw confident defence by Opal Prince and Emilie Stockman, and some lovely ball control by Jed Devine. Bradtke Stockman and Jed Devine had a number of goal scoring attempts, however Clare’s Goalie Trinity did a fantastic job deflecting the shots.  Burra did finally score a goal half way through the second half, with Jed Devine sneaking/dribbling a goal through.

Tanunda 4 def CDHA United 0

It was going to be a tough slog with 3 fresh legs for Tanunda and CDHA only fielding 9 players. CDHA defence held well breaking down the play and stopping Tanunda from having an easy run. CDHA’s goalie, James Cott was a stand out with some fantastic saves and quick reflexes. Down 2 nil at half time, legs started to tire but CDHA’s determination and commitment was to be commended. Two beautiful goals were scored in the second half by Tanunda.

Early in the first half, CDHA had an opportunity to score but Tanunda, cleared the ball. Harrison Williams ran the ball into CDHA’s forward line numerous times, passing off to Nick Burfitt and Lucas Williams, allowing scoring opportunities without conversion. Three minutes before the end of the first half Tanunda snuck in a goal following a short corner, and shortly after, had another strong goal attempt, but it was well blocked by Goalie Bradtke Stockman. During the second half, CDHA had more scoring opportunities, but Tanunda’s defence consistently cleared. Lewis Bulla from Tanunda scored a beautiful goal from a short corner taking the score to Tanunda 2 - CDHA 0. Tanunda added a third goal in the final minute.

B Women

Tanunda Black 3 def CDHA United 0

Scores are insignificant when there is a great match played.  The past 2 week’s CDHA women have gone down but have come off the field with smiles and all feeling rewarded with great matches and played in good spirit. Tanunda had the edge this weekend with good movement of the ball. Quick reflexes and aided by CDHA’s defence held Tanunda well in the first half with only 1 goal being scored. In the second half, Tanunda was able to score again from a field goal. Amber Prince had her first game in women’s and did a great job in eliminating her wing. With about 50 seconds on the clock Tanunda was awarded with yet another short corner, resulting in a goal and giving Tanunda the win.
