Port Broughton — On a perfect long weekend Saturday 9th. and Sunday 10th. of June, Port Broughton was bathed in brilliant weather for the Winter Family Fun Fishing Competition once again, along with the Maritime Art Show.
Over 100 paintings and art works were hung for the show from all around the State, with works from the Broughton Kindergarten and the Kadina Christian Harvest School, giving all the visitors to the Town plenty to see over the weekend with a continuous stream of viewers to the Hall. There were stalls and an array of works in all media on show and for sale. The free Fishing is Fun Program was once again very successful with many bags given out.
The weekend was brilliant with a high pressure weather system over the gulf for the Fishing Competition with the jetty and shore and boat sections having entrants registering catches. There was even a friendly whale to be seen, enjoying the very plentiful squid.
Our thanks to the Club’s Volunteers, many of whom have dedicated over 10 years to the Club and who again worked incredibly hard over a week putting all the pieces into place, also erecting our new Marquee and its magnificent back wall.
Co-founder of the Club, Tricsha Nurk , was mentioned for her dedicated time as Public Officer, Secretary, and Treasurer, for its 18 years.
The Local and State Sponsors were thanked and the visitors were advised to support these very generous people who contribute to the event each year.
