Students at schools in Clare, including the year sevens at Clare High School, took part in the annual Clare Combined School’s Walkathon.

Funds are raised by students asking for donations for their big walk – which is held along the Riesling Trail – and are then distributed throughout the community.

This year, students raised enough money to donate $1500 towards the Riesling Trail for the restoration of the turntable area, another $1500 was donated to the Gleeson Wetlands.

To join with the celebration of the centenary of the first train to Clare, the cheque (to the Riesling Trail) was presented on the day with a student representative from each school present.

Clare High School principal Sharryn Daly presented it on behalf of the schools, with the help of school captains from St Joseph’s School Clare, Clare Primary School and Clare High School.
