Upgrade start dates to the section of Farrell Flat Road just in the 80km/h zone are still unknown.
With funding announcements made in February, the construction tender has been decided – McConnell Dowell – and start dates will be determined.
A Department of Planning and Infrastructure spokesperson said Details about disruptions during construction and start dates are still to be determined, however it was expected work on the Farrell Flat bridges would occur in the third quarter of 2018.
“DPTI nominated two projects on the DPTI maintained Clare to Burra Road for funding consideration as part of Round 3 for the Australian Government’s ‘Bridges Renewal Program’,” the spokesperson said.
“DPTI was successful with its nominations for the replacement of the Farrell Flat bridges (one a bridge, the other a culvert structure).”
Total costs of the upgrades is about $1.5million, to be shared on a 50:50 basis with the Australian government.
“The State Government is committed to investing in regional infrastructure and is establishing a Royalties for Regions program which will quarantine 30 per cent of mining royalties for investment in regional roads and other infrastructure.”
