A Gourmet Weekend of food, wine and hospitality

Thousands will return to Clare Valley this May for the 34th Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend from Friday, May 18 to Monday, May 21.

The renowned festival is a celebration of the best the Clare Valley has to offer with food, wine, hospitality, landscapes, heritage buildings, art and music making it a major drawcard on the South Australian event calendar.

This year, 36 wineries, two breweries and a number of regional restaurants will take part in the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend.

The event will also feature a range of special events, including degustation lunches and dinners, the Gourmet Farmers Market, competitions, masterclasses and educational activities.

The program will be jam-packed with events and features, including two new winery venues and a Monday morning wine sale including new and vintage wine releases at select venues.

This year, the popular Gourmet Hub will be relocated to the Clare Showgrounds, across the highway from the previous site at the Clare Valley Wine, Food and Tourism Centre, and will also include the Clare Valley Cuisine Gourmet Market.

This Gourmet Hub will again feature wine from new boutique brands in the region who do not have their own cellar doors.

Getting around the festival will be even easier, thanks to LinkSA, which will operate a bus service from Adelaide to Clare on Saturday, May 19, which will then connect to a shuttle bus in the region.

The shuttle bus will be operating on both Saturday and Sunday.

Chair of the Clare Valley Winemakers Incorporated Andrew Pike said the 2018 Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend as always, will be a fitting way to celebrate our latest vintage and to promote the Clare Valley’s diverse regional wine, food, and hospitality with authentic country charm.

“We are very much looking forward to the 2018 Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend,” Andrew said.

“It is arguably the main highlight on our regional calendar, and this year will be no exception, with plenty to showcase across the Valley.”

Clare Valley Winemakers Incorporated executive officer Tania Matz said plans for the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend are well underway.

“The preparations are in full swing for a great weekend of country hospitality and memorable experiences,” Tania said.

“We’re excited to welcome two new wineries to the program, more special events, plus the addition of the Clare Valley Cuisine Gourmet Market to the Gourmet Hub, which will make the event bigger and better than before.”

“We encourage visitors to jump on a bus from Adelaide, stay for the weekend or organise a group itinerary to enjoy the very best that the festival has to offer.”
