CDHA Men - bye

Tanunda 3 lost CDHA United 2-3

Goals

CDHA – Carlie Savage 3

Tanunda 3 – Sonia Tonkin 1, Jess Law 1

With a warm day to kick off the season, Captains decided to take advantage of a 2 minute drink break between each half.

With CDHA women 2 short before even starting this was very welcomed – 35 minutes is a long time without a rest, in the heat and playing short.

Both teams lined up with a mixture of youth and mature players making a lovely balance of energy and experience.

Tanunda 3’s captain Lisa Laycock won the toss and chose the ball.  11.30am time started and both teams easing into the game.

CDHA welcomed new team members Miranda Kenny and Emma Pearse who both slotted in well.  Warm welcome back to Mary Heslop who returns from having last year off and Izzy Price was nervous for her first full game of Women’s.

It was Tanunda who put the first goal on the card catching CDHA light on in defence.

A team effort for CDHA’s first goal came from Izzy Price with Carlie Savage finishing it in the circle.  This was followed by the second off a short corner with the same duo passing.

A much needed half time break.

CDHA held well but there was still another 35 minutes of play.

The second half saw both ends being utilised well and both teams tiring.

The younger forward line of Tanunda 3 were constantly met with CDHA’s defence and CDHA providing some quick breaks in attack.

Tanunda 3 were able to equal the scores from beautiful screen play and great angled goal.

CDHA still had a little left in their tank.

A ball came straight from defence to reach Miranda Kenny in the attacking circle, who deflected into a Tanunda’s foot rewarded by a short.

It was a trifecta for Carlie Savage who scored her third goal for the game putting CDHA back in front.

CDHA Women pleased with their efforts for the first game of the season, playing short.
