The coaching staff at BSR Football Club have had a solid start to the year, getting into the full swing of preseason in late January.
They have been focussed on getting numbers to training and working hard on fitness and improving the way they play within their structures.
New president Matt Thomas said the hard work seems to be paying off with their skills looking pretty sharp and some good signs from the trial games against Crystal Brook and Mallala.
“We have gained a few new faces and with the return of some lads who have been playing in town, along with the lads coming up from under 17s, I think we will have a solid outfit for the 2018 season,” Matt said.
Joining the side this year are Todd Culley, Matt Longbottom and Ben Heinjus.
Dillon Montgomerie and Jake Slade have left the side.
There will be plenty of opportunities for younger players to play some A grade football this year.

“We have a young side and we are really starting to see some improvement in many of these players which as a club we are excited to see their development and hunger to play at a high standard,” Matt said.
“They just need to focus on the things they can control and the rest will take care of itself.”
“This shows with the high number of lads who are getting opportunities at SANFL level from under 18’s right through to playing league football.”
The A grade and B grade both went top last season, so the club is aiming to identify their weaknesses and keep improving on every aspect of their game.
“The other teams are getting stronger so we need to try and keep ahead of them,” Matt said.
The U17s finished eighth and the U14s finished fifth.
“I would like to thank the committee, volunteers, coaches, sponsors and everyone else involved in the running of the club and wish all the players a successful year in 2018.”
