The U3A Lower North committee hosted its tutors to lunch at Clare Hotel on February 7 after a meeting at Clare Town Hall to inspect the group’s new office and activity spaces.

Fifteen of U3A’s important teaching people were welcomed by chair Claire Eglinton in the hall’s Stan Scott Room before being shown around the new spaces made available to U3A by Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council after the closure of The Domain.

Among the leaders was retired barrister and magistrate Chris Cocks, of Snowtown, who will preside over ‘Law Talk’, a series of occasional lectures  which already has 17 ‘students’ registered.

Another new interest activity is Current Affairs led by Claire Eglinton on alternate Wednesdays at 11am at Clare Town Hall.

Most of the 31 groups and courses offered in first term 2018 are full, but check availability with course coordinator Quentin Fleming on 0447 601 142 or email asku3a@gmail.com.  A full list of activities may be seen on www.u3alowernorth.webs.com

U3A Lower North has more than 200 members but new enrolments are always welcome. Membership of $35 for the year covers participation in as many activities as a member would like.
