Mid North Junior Cricket President Scott Smith was recently invited to speak at SACA’s Cricket Connects Conference.

The conference was attended by 200 South Australian cricket stakeholders, which included SACA board members and key Cricket Australia management members such as former Australian men’s and women’s captains Greg Chappell and Belinda Clark.

Mr Smith spoke about the success of the Mid North Strikers Girls Cricket League, which is being used as a case study by Cricket Australia.

On Saturday, August 12, Mr Smith was one of a number of speakers on a panel addressing the landscape for girls and women in cricket.

The panel also consisted of Adelaide University Cricket Club Women’s co-ordinator Rebecca Law, and Cricket Victoria, Head of Female Cricket Sonya Thompson.

Key points addressed by the panel included defining a clear pathway for girls and making the game more accessible.
