A Queensland man, 82, has lost his licence for a year for drink driving after motorists reported his erratic driving to police.
At about 11pm on Friday, November 10, police received a number of complaints on UHF Channel 40 about a car towing a trailer heading south on the Augusta Highway, Snowtown, driving erratically and nearly colliding with oncoming vehicles.
Police located and stopped the vehicle, however, it rolled at slow speed and collided with the police car. There were no injuries and only minimal damage as a result of the collision.
The driver recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.165.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated drive without due care, fail to drive in marked lane and drink driving.
He was bailed to appear in court. Police wish to thank the members of the public who reported this unsafe driving. They appreciate the help of other motorists to improve road safety.
