A series of explosives testing will take place in Port Wakefield over the next fortnight.

The Proof and Experimental Establishment at Port Wakefield will undertake a series of tests from Thursday, November 2, to Wednesday, November 15, excluding Sunday, November 5, and Sunday, November 12.

Residents in the towns of Port Wakefield, Port Parham and Ardrossan can expect to experience loud noise as a result of tests which will be conducted between 1pm and 10pm on Monday to Saturday over this period.

These tests will be conducted within P&EE and will not require closure of the Restricted Zones within the Gulf St Vincent.

P&EE has been proofing long range, large-calibre and high explosive weapons and ammunition since 1928.

The establishment conducts test and evaluation activities to ensure that weapons and ammunition used by the Australian Defence Force is safe and suitable for service.

These activities are essential to minimise injury and prevent loss of life for the servicewomen and men who use these weapons and ammunition in training and overseas.
