“Numbers man” Muhammad Jawad is a new face in Balaklava.
Muhammad recently started work at Wakefield Regional Council as its new accountant.
He migrated 15 years ago from Pakistan and took his accountancy degree at the University of South Australia.
He worked previously for French transnational company Veolia at Wingfield and Kilburn.
Muhammad is married to Faryal and they have two daughters aged eight years old and three months old.
He said the main challenge in his new job was understanding the different software system.
“So far so good, and it will get better,” he said.
Acting infrastructure services manager Stuart Roberts attended his first meeting of council on Wednesday, October 25.
WRC farewelled previous infrastructure services manager David Hassett last year after a 10-year tenure.
Mr Hassett has gone to the Mid-Murray Council at Mannum.
Mayor Rodney Reid said he had worked closely with the Mr Hassett and truly appreciated his input.
