BSR Tigers export Nick Hayes was honoured for his special season in the SANFL with Team of the Year selection.
The oldest of five siblings, Hayes won a position in a forward pocket when the final squad was announced mid last week.
He was one of eight Woodville West Torrens footballers in the initial 40-man squad, and collected a spot in the forward pocket in the final 21.
Still just 22, Hayes is noted as a strong overhead mark and a versatile footballer, who had a consistent season.
Playing predominately inside the forward 50, he kicked 32 goals for the season, shouldering the load as the primary option in attack.
Hayes said he had produced a good, steady year of play.
“I was a little surprised but mostly honoured,” Hayes said.
“I loved playing alongside younger brother Jack and both of us have committed to the club for the 2018 campaign.”
“It certainly was my most consistent year and I hit the scoreboard which helps.
“The finish to the season was frustrating but we weren't playing our best football at the right time of the year.
“I certainly love playing alongside (younger brother) Jack this year and both of us have committed to the club for the 2018 campaign.
“It's a fairly substantial commitment having being at the club four nights a week along with your commitments on game day.
“One day I'd love to come back to BSR and have a kick with the boys, play a season or two.”
