The Balaklava Racing Club was established in 1903 and since then it has grown to be one of South Australia's most successful country clubs.

The highlight of the year is The Balaklava Cup which is the largest race meeting held outside the metropolitan area in SA.

The Balaklava Cup will be held on Wednesday, September 13 and is a big day on the local calendar.

Cup day attracts a crowd of close to 10,000 guests, with people making the trip to the mid north farming town from the surrounding country region to enjoy the atmosphere of one of the state's premier events.

Balaklava Racing Club CEO, Doug Hall, said people flock to the Balaklava Cup each year for a range of reasons.

“The cup is a great opportunity to hang out with mates, especially people who you might only see once a year.”

For the first time this year the Cup will have a Royal Flying Doctors Service air ambulance simulator on show, so come down and see what the equipment is like.

The Fashions on the Field competition has one of the biggest prize packages out there, with more than $10,000 worth of prizes.

There will be live music between races and of course great food and wine.

A day of fun, great racing and fashion, will be had by all. Racing starts early, so get in early to get a space.
