Three Generations impress at Pikes

Artwork from three generations of the one family is the feature of this year’s SALA exhibition at The Art Gallery at Pikes.

“Three Generations” features the work of mother and daughter Marie and Allyson Parsons, and Allyson’s son Henry Cockington.

Marie and Allyson – both highly regarded within the art fraternity – have many awards between them including ‘acquisitive’ and  ‘people’s choice’ at the recent Clare Rotary Art shows.

Henry is a 19-year-old emerging artist forging his career as a portrait painter.

The exhibition was opened on Sunday by ABC journalist Mike Sexton, who discussed his association with the Parson family across the past decade and how their art had made a significant impression on him.

He said he was especially proud to open this event as he thoroughly endorsed the effect of the SALA festival for the many artists exhibiting around SA.

About 140 invited guests from Yorke Peninsula, Flinders Ranges, Adelaide, Barossa, Wakefield Plains and locally enjoyed the late morning opening with a selection of cheese and tapas, coupled with Pikes wines and beers.

This exhibition – the ninth to be hosted by Pikes – is a rare opportunity to view such talent from one family in one space.

The Art Gallery at Pikes is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm.
