Showcasing the best produce of the region

Local foodies will be in heaven later this month with the Adelaide Plains branch of SACWA’s new event, Plains on a Plate, taking place on the 23rd.

Plains on a Plate will showcase the very best of the produce grown in the Adelaide Plains region with an aim to breathe life back into an area struggling after the Pinery bush fire.

Award winning chef and 25 year industry veteran Simon Bryant will be hosting 2 cooking demonstrations on the day, using produce from the area to create dishes with a distinct local feel.

Bryant is best know for working alongside Barossa Valley icon Maggie Beer on ABC show The Cook and The Chef from 2006 to 2009, and for spending 7 years as executive chef at the Hilton Adelaide.

He is currently co-creative director of culinary festival Tasting Australia.

Various market stalls will be set up and serving gourmet food made using the best produce from the Plains. 

The children will have plenty of entertainment available throughout the day with various activities taking place, as well as a very special appearance from Australia’s best loved farming character George the Farmer.

Admission into the event is just a gold coin donation to help cover the costs of running the event, with any remaining money being donated to the South Australian Country Women’s Association to help continue the organisations work.
