An Eyre Peninsula woman has captured an amazing example of parental diligence with her video of an adult emu caring for a group of about 40 juveniles.
Wildlife enthusiast Marianne Stockham, Sleaford, captured the video as the emus travelled across a paddock on Thursday morning.
Male emus can look after hatched chicks for up to six months but Mrs Stockham said she had never seen a group of this size before.
Her video has been seen online by many across the state and internationally.
Mrs Stockham said she hoped those who saw the video could gain a greater appreciation for the local environment and wildlife.
“We’re very blessed to live in such a rich area for wildlife,” she said.
Mrs Stockham said she enjoyed filming all kinds of wildlife in the area.
