A 40-year-old man from Kapunda was recently arrested for the alleged theft of fencing from the Riesling Trial.

The fencing from the Lennon Street carpark in Clare was stolen during the early hours of the morning, but the community helped police track the thief down.

Police were able to locate the fencing after contact was made from a community member who found it.

The thief failed to properly secure the fencing in his trailer which meant that it fell off when he attempted to make his getaway.

Police were able to make an arrest as the same community found a tailgate with the trailer’s number plate nearby.

The fencing has been restored courtesy of Pinky’s Fencing.

Riesling Trial Management Committee vice chairman Mark Hill thanked the community for its help.

“We always get good support from the community because they do appreciate what it does for the town and what it brings to the town,” he said.

“That level of support occurs in a number of different ways.”

Mr Hill said the Management Committee appreciated the support from the community towards the trail.
