Clare residents can finally purchase Heavy Vehicle Work Diaries in the town once again after relentless lobbying from Regional Development Minister Geoff Brock.

The diaries were removed from Clare Police Station in July 2014, meaning that those needing to purchase them would need to travel to Burra, Crystal Brook or Gawler.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure had advised that SA Police stopped providing registration and licensing services from rural police stations that were within a 100 kilometre radius of a Service SA Customer Service Centre. SAPOL had said it could no longer provide the service because of costs, and that it took staff and resources away from their task of policing rural areas. It also said it was no longer able to provide the necessary staffing requirements to deal with the service.

Diaries can now be purchased from the Clare Service Agent for a cost of $25. Mr Brock thanked heavy vehicle operators in the Clare Valley for their patience.
