Blyth’s RSL Playground is now the ideal all-weather area for children and adults alike.

Thanks to a federal government grant, the Blyth Progress Association was able to have a shade built for the playground.

The grant was a $37,000 community development grant.

Blyth Progress Association treasurer Janet Zweck said the playground was a popular stop for people who were waiting for a movie to start or after it finished, for children going to after-school sport and those attending ballet.

The RSL playground has had a number of revamps during its life, and this should allow the equipment to stay out of direct sunlight, to help it last into the future.

Thanks to the grant funding, the progress association was able to add extra pieces of play equipment to the area as well.

An official opening of the new shelter will be held on November 5, 2017, at 2pm.
