Blyth Cinema owners Ian and Narelle Roberts are hoping to open a second theatre with grant funds from Beyond Bank.

Blyth Cinema has been nominated to receive a share of $17,500 for a community development grant from Beyond Bank.

Beyond Bank was recently voted Australia’s Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility and is giving money to worthy causes from around the country in celebration of the way.

Cinema owner Ian Roberts said the money received would be put towards building a second room.

“Our dream at the moment is to have a second theater,” he said.

“That would allow us to show two films at the one time.

“We think that would allow us to give more choice and also allow us to run a popular movie for six or seven weeks.”

The cinema is independently run by local volunteers and is funded through community fundraisers.

The competition is voted on by the public and the cause with the most votes would receive $10,000, second place $5000 and third place $2500.
