Peace of Mind Foundation, supporting those with brain cancer (and their carers), is a charity close to Jaymi Milic’s heart and she’s decided to help them out.
With focus often around the research into cancers and how to prevent or eliminate them, helping those who have been diagnosed is also equally important and that’s where Peace of Mind Foundation comes in.
Knowing the foundation helps those suffering, and their families, Jaymi has organised and will hold a Peace of Mind Ute Muster in November.
Jaymi said it was important to support the groups who helped families.
“...these guys help with the hands on...we thought, what can we do to help,” Jaymi said.
So, with a few ideas, it was decided to host a ute muster to help raise some funds – at her home town in Brinkworth.
It’s not just for the ute drivers, categories include motorcycle and ‘it’s not a ute’.
To be held on November 11 at Brinkworth Town Hall (carpark area), entry costs just $20 which will get you a nomination into the classes that suit your vehicle.
Entrants must be signed in at 10am.
Jaymi said the ute muster would be held annually, on the second Saturday of November, as a fundraiser for the foundation.
“Hopefully we will raise a stack of cash for them (the foundation). They don’t get any direct government funding that I’m aware of.”
“They need help to continue to provide this hands on support to the people living with it (brain cancer),” Jaymi said.
The day will also include Jaymi’s marriage to long-time fiance Ziv – it’s a celebratory day for all involved.
“It will be a really good day,” Jaymi said.
This year the muster has fallen on Remembrance Day, Jaymi said once all utes were in and registered the entrants and anyone else would make their way over to the Brinkworth RSL Hall for the service.
Judging will follow, Jaymi and Ziv will then be married and presentations will be made following.
“If they are there they have no choice but to attend our wedding. It’s all going to be a bit of fun...”
The Peace of Mind Ute Muster will encompass the community of Brinkworth, with the help of the Brinkworth Memorial Hall committee – who are providing a sausage sizzle – along with the pub, it will be a day all about Brinkworth.
On the same day, the community of Brinkworth celebrates 125 years, so a separate celebration will be held at the Reserve from 6pm.
All money raised from the day will go towards the Peace of Mind Foundation.
