University of the Third Age (U3A) Lower North’s newest course, Italian for Travellers, attracted 22 enthusiastic students to learn the basics of Italian conversation with tutor Anne Smith.

Anne, a member of the U3A LN committee, has visited Italy a number of times and was keen to share her skills with others in an informal environment.

The group, which meets Monday afternoons at the Clare Town Hall, has only this term but there could be another running next year.

U3A has other language courses: Chinese (Mandarin) with Ron Bevan on Monday mornings at the Domain, Clare, and French basics and more advanced French with Claire Eglinton on Thursday mornings at the Domain.

U3A Lower North has 215 members participating in nearly 30 classes and groups in Clare and Auburn for men and women over 50 who are retired or no longer working full-time.
