SAPOL are at the scene of a serious crash near Tarlee

A serious motor vehicle incident on Tuesday, May 16, resulted in Horrocks Highway being closed to traffic between Bethel Road and Rohdes Road for around two hours.

A truck travelling north on Horrocks Highway – about eight kilometres from Tarlee – lost a pallet of metal strapping from the back of their vehicle.

The pallet collided with a car and injured the two people travelling in the opposite direction.

SA Police reported although their injuries were serious, they were not life threatening.

After they were evaluated by emergency services, they were airlifted to hospital at approximately 3.45pm.

The driver was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital while the passenger was conveyed to the Lyell McEwen Hospital.

Local police are investigating the circumstances surround the crash and will be interviewing the truck driver at a later date.

The highway was reopened at about 5pm.
