A free community forum on the drug ice will be held in Burra next month.
Residents who have questions or are concerned about the impact the drug may have on the community or their families can attend the session.
Councillor and Lower North Health Advisory Council presiding member Darryl Venning said the free forum was open to anyone – community leaders, parents, grandparents and young people. “We are aware that ice use is on the rise, and we want to be on the front foot to educate all members of our community about its dangers,” Mr Venning said.
The forum will outline the social and health impacts of ice on the community, what to do if you suspect someone is using, and the support and resources available.
The forum is an initiative of Country Health SA Local Health Network - Burra Hospital, and supported by South Australian Police, Drug and Alcohol Services, the Regional Council of Goyder and the Goyder YAC.
The forum will be held on Wednesday, June 7, from 7pm at the Burra Sporting Complex.
