An impressive crowd of around 4000 people attended the Clare Easter Races on Saturday, April 15, flocking to the Clare Racing Club and Clare Valley region for the annual long weekend event.
Perfect weather conditions graced the day for competitors and spectators and Clare Racing Club event manager Tanya Bertelsmeier reported positive feedback from across the board.
“One of the winners of one of the horses thanked the club and said it was a fantastic race meeting and they’ll definitely be back again,” Mrs Bertelsmeier said.
“So to get good feedback from owners and trainers is really good.”
She said the majority of attendees had travelled from Adelaide and were extremely well behaved.
Feedback from officials suggested the day and night celebrations passed relatively incident free.
“Liquor licensing were happy, security were happy, police were happy and so we’re happy,” Mrs Bertelsmeier said.
“The crowd were very classy and very well behaved.”
After the horse racing had concluded, attendees were entertained by Clare-born DJ Lachlan Eldredge in a concert which ran until around 11pm.
“He (Mr Eldredge) was unreal actually, the crowd loved him,” Mrs Bertelsmeier said.
“He sort of played a mixture of the latest songs and then a few oldies that the crowd were actually singing.”
Clare Valley Wine, Food and Tourism Centre promotional coordinator Tegan Adamson-Smith said they had a lot of visitors to the region across the long weekend.
She said visitors also checked out other events such as the Mintaro Maze Easter egg hunt – noted as one of the most popular – Blenheim Festival and the Auburn, Saddleworth Clare and Manoora markets.
