Former Clare residents and sisters, Kerry McCarthy and Michelle Everett, have been awarded Volunteer Distinguished Service awards by the SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).

The daughters of Maureen and the late Maurice Vandeleur have 45 years of service between them. Kapunda volunteer, Kerry, joined the SAAS in 1980.

“We’re a small but proud community, with a history of ambulance involvement dating back over a hundred years,” said Ms McCarthy.

“I think that brings a certain responsibility to ensure we provide the service for as long as we’re able.” Kerry’s sister Michelle is a volunteer team leader at Robe.
