Lawnmowers are typically used for their name sake, to mow lawn, but in Booborowie it’s a different story.
A new trend of racing lawn mowers has taken hold and the town of Booborowie wants to celebrate it.
The second Booborowie Lawn Mower Race will be held on November 5 and you can expect souped up lawn mowers to provide entertainment for many hours.
At the inaugural meet in February, seven mowers took to the track but this time, organisers think there could be up to 30 or more.
Booborowie Hotel publican, Alf Muscat said it would be a fun day for the whole family.
He also hoped to see as many people turn out for it as possible.
Lawn mowers will fire up their engines for the races from 12pm, while a live band – whose members are also racing their mowers – will play from 8-12pm at the pub.
More than 250 people turned out for the February event, but Mr Muscat said he thought they might attract a stronger crowd of up to 400 – many people had heard about this one and were keen to be part of the action.
“This is going to be unbelievable, it is a fun day,” he said.
Prizes will be given to winning racers and big trophies are up for grabs.
Situated just across from the pub in Booborowie, the shaded area is perfect for the whole family, cost is just $2 per person.
