Feet will pound the pavement at Burra on October 30, for the annual Burra Fun Run.
In its third year, Burra Fun Run is a great event for the whole family and it still follows the belief of being an event to get people active and participating.
Burra Fun Run was established when a group of health professionals, with healthy living and active participation on their minds, got together to offer something different to the residents of Burra and surrounds.
It was an addition to the calendar that would allow participants to compete in a distance to suit them and enjoy the scenery Burra has to offer.
Three distances are offered to runners and walkers, they include a 3km, 5km and 10km.
The course follows roads throughout Burra before heading along the creek and back up to the town oval (slightly varied for 3km and the 10km completes two laps of the 5km track).
Prizes will be given in both male and female categories to first and second placegetters.
Burra Fun Run organiser, Mandy Dolphin said they hoped to attract more entrants than previous years and registration was also welcomed on the day.
“We will take them (registrations) on the morning from 7am, we are keen for people to come out,” Ms Dolphin said.
While it’s not a fundraising initiative, the event strongly promotes health and well being within the community.
All money raised goes straight back into the community.
As an added bonus at this year’s event, there’ll be pre and post-run massage available for competitors, provided free of charge.
Running with a pram is welcome, but no skateboards, bikes or pets are permitted.
Registrations via online payment close on Friday, October 21, entries on the day are welcome (cash only).
Cost: $35 family (two adults, two children 5-15 years) $15 adult, $5 children (5-15 years), under 5 FREE.
