Auburn archives its history

The Auburn  branch of the National Trust of South Australia received a 2015-2016 Community Asset Grant from the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council for materials to archive print media clippings for the years 1973 until now.

A number of volunteers helped with the project of over 8000 pages, all dated and the source identified, in order of dates, with each page of the yearly files numbered.

It is interesting to note that from the earlier years there was no colour until now with a high percentage of colour used in the publications.

The subjects are mainly of the Auburn area or its people and highlighted issues such as railroads closing and the metric system.

A high percentage of the clippings are from issues of the Northern Argus.
