Scott Brand re-appointed at Tigers

28 Oct, 2009 09:50 AM
Southern Flinders has had several weeks to let the dust settle on the history-making premiership and the re-appointment of Scott Brand to the senior coaching role is a ringing endorsement of this young man’s ability to run a football team.

He said the players and members and their families will be able to relive the September glory during a special dinner in a couple of weeks time.

We were going to have a premiership dinner a few weeks ago,” Brand said.

“But we have shifted the date so we can hopefully get everyone back together and reunite again. We can make a good night of it and sit back and soak in what we’ve actually achieved.”

Brand said he was now really looking forward to building on the 2009 success and he was confident the players will be switched on from round one.

“It is good that the club has been able to make the (coaching) decision now,” he said.

“It means we can sit down and look at our list and see what we’ve lost and what we need to get. But we’ve got a lot of young kids coming through and we sort of went the local tag this year – we didn’t really want to bring in a heap of recruits - so we will keep going down the same path. I was talking to a lot of the boys and they are pretty keen on going at it again so we will start up at pre-season again and hopefully all the hunger will still be there to go for it again.”

In other coaching appointments at Southern Flinders, Koby Nettle has retained the B grade job.

Meanwhile, Scott Brand has also been awarded the North Adelaide Football Club’s Northern Areas Senior Coach of the Year award and Matthew Dignan picked up the Junior coaching award.
