Western Australia were rewarded for its dominance of the 2009 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships with a record nine players selected in the All-Australian team.
Division One runners-up South Australia and Vic Country are both represented by four players, with three Vic Metro players and one each from NSW/ACT and Tasmania completing the 22-man squad.
AFL Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan said All-Australian selection was among the highest honours for a junior footballer.
“With 15 players from the 2008 All-Australian team having debuted at AFL level this season, it is clear that this group contains the very elite underage talent from across the country.”
“The standard of football played throughout the 2009 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships was outstanding and the individual performances of the All-Australian players was exceptional,” Mr Sheehan said.
Western Australia’s title winning coach Andrew Lockyer was named All Australian Coach, with South Australia’s Brenton Phillips his assistant.
