Red carpet rollout for lowdown on Backyard Footy's Downlow

Jamestown’s backyard football legends will relive the excitement and action of the inuaugural BFL matches in August 2007 at the “Downlow Medal” count and awards ceremony on February 15 in the Jamestown Town Hall.

Family, friends, sports enthusiasts, and even those not remotely interested in football, are encouraged to come along for the Backyard Football League’s “night of nights”, which begins at 6.30pm with a red carpet entrance for players and partners.

“All BFL players are required to attend this official function, and are encouraged to bring their partner, wife, girlfriend, mate and family and friends,” Backyard Football League president Michael Butterick said.

With entertainment from outstanding musician Danny Hooper, the night will feature votes for both the Downlow Medal Best and Fairest Player and the Graham Coleman Leading Goalkicker of the Year from 21 fabricated rounds, as well as the real event, the inaugural backyard matches on August 25.

Special guest league commissioners, Senior Detective Sargeant Brevet Major General, Dale Oats, and Pekina Player of the Year 1973 Michael Redden, will join Michael Butterick as hosts of the medal count.

“The night will be casual, relaxed and with some terrific power point presentations will be very entertaining,” Michael said.

“Dress for is footy shorts, t-shirts, and thongs for the fellas and the ladies can dress casually or dress up to emulate the Brownlow Medal if they wish.”

The night is fully licensed with hot roast beef and gravy rolls for entrée, main course and sweets. A gold coin or note donation at the door is all that is needed for your entry.

To book, phone Paul McInerney on 0437 423 770.
