Skills and plenty of fun were the order of the day when the Stanley Cricket Association, in conjunction with the South Australian Cricket Association and Woodville Cricket Club, hosted a Milo In2Cricket clinic at Sevenhill on Thursday.
The clinic was run by SACA cricket development officer Chris Trapp who looks after all of the associations in theWoodville District Cricket Club zone including Mt Maurice, Stanley, Rocky River, Port Pirie and Belalie/Mokota. He is also the Junior Country Cup doordinator.
He was assisted by Stanley Cricket Association president Scooter Smith and Woodville cricketers Matt Stopp, Dylan Stutley and Brad Inglis.
Matt and Dylan, who are both wicketkeepers, are great role models for budding Stanley cricketers as they started as juniors in Clare before going on to play for Woodville.
Matt, who played a couple of A grade games for Woodville last season, played for Southern Districts in Darwin this year.
Dylan played Under-17s for Woodville last season and filled in with the C grade side.
Thursday’s clinic started with a lap of the oval and some stretching exercises led by Dylan, followed by some bowling coaching in the nets.
They went onto batting and fielding exercises before finishing up with a match out in the middle of the oval.
Meanwhile the younger cricketers enjoyed some basic skills coaching and fun games led by Scooter with the assistance of parents.
The clinic finished with a cricket quiz featuring cricket balls and shirts as prizes, while everyone received Milo giveaways.
