Crows footballer Nathan Bock proved popular at Jamestown last week, with more than 100 children from around the state flocking in to attend a coaching clinic with the star.
And the autograph session after wards at Kelly Toyota was equally popular, not just with the kids but with plenty of local adult Crows supporters.
The coaching clinic, conducted by Bock and members of the Crows Junior Development Squad, gave children practice at kicking, handballing, marking, tackling and running.
The children then had an opportunity to ask Bock a few questions. They quizzed him about his training commitments, diet, his toughest opponent (Nick Reiwoldt) and when he started playing (at age seven).
Bock and Claude the Crow then left the oval, did a lap of the main street, and then signed autographs and posed for photos with Kelly Toyota.
Bock and Claude also visited Belalie Lodge to wish Ivy Longmire a happy 100th birthday for a couple of week’s time.
The clinics were sponsored by Northern Areas Council Youth Advisory Council with grant funding through the Mid North Health Service Community Grants program.
Nathan Bock’s visit was sponsored by Kelly Toyota. The Crows Junior Development Squad is sponsored by Foodland.
Other sponsors included Southern Cross Television, Magic FM, 1044 5CS and the Jamestown Apex Club.
NAC YAC’s Deb Kelly said a special thank you to the volunteers that helped out on the day and to Nathan Bock, Claude the Crow and the Crows Junior Development Squad and to sponsors.
“We were very happy with the day and hope to see the Crows come back again next year,” she said.
She said children came from Berri, Blyth, Booleroo, Burra, Clare, Crystal Brook, Georgetown, Gladstone, Hallett, Jamestown, Kadina, Laura, Orroroo, Peterborough, Port Pirie, Port Germein, Quorn, Spalding, Carrieton, Wallaroo, Whyte Yarcowie, Wirrabara & Yongala and ranged in age from 3-13.
